Moved to the area two months ago, been there 6 times. We always get take out next time we dine in. The food is the best in town.
The cafe is at a strip mall and from outside, it looks entirely unremarkable. Still, we went and gave it a try. A smart decision: The kitchen is excellent, the wine is decently priced and the service good. We enjoyed our evening and returned two days later for an encore. Absolutely recommended
Very nice meal . The garlic knots were fresh , warm , and yummy. The salad bowl was delicious . The scallops were delightful , the tuna was just slightly over cooked . We would definitely recommend this place to eat .
Not too crowded but amazing food. Large portions. Calamari tasted fresh and fried perfectly. The salad looked and tasted crispy and fresh. My entree was the Scampi Romagnola and came out piping hot. The artichokes and shrimp, again, tasted fresh. Did I mention the garlic knots? Fresh thin sliced garlic in everything? Very authentic and satisfying.
Atmosphere is quaint, service is great and the food is wonderful! I had fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and it’s the best I’ve ever had!

Best Italian restaurant I've eaten at in a very long time. The restaurant was small yet private and exceeded my expectations. We had the house salad with our meal, and boy, was it the best - fresh lettuce and all the fixings for an Italian salad. The pasta with vodka sauce is a real treat, and I don't believe there's actual vodka in the sauce, but it's delicious. Lastly, they make their own bread rolls, and they are fantastic. I'll be back for sure in January!
There's a restaurant in Charles Town that everyone needs to experience. Over the weekend, we had plans to stroll through Shepherdstown for Erin's 39th birthday, but when the weather decided not to cooperate, a group of us switched it up and tried out a new spot in Charles Town. It only took one visit by our group and we're hooked. La Mezzaluna Cafe is a hidden gem that would’ve made both my Italian AND Polish grandmothers proud! Every dish we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Tony and I went with the Veal Parmesan, Erin enjoyed the Manicotti, and Natalia tried the Shrimp FraDiavolo—not a single dish was less than a 10/10. And because it was a birthday, of course we didn’t skip dessert! We ordered a little bit of everything, and just like our meals, dessert was perfect. Next time you are in Charles Town, go here for dinner. It’ll probably be packed but still, you’re going to get top-notch service and enjoy some of the best food a dining out experience can offer. - Chris
La Mezzaluna has a good menu with flavorful meals that are well balanced. They provide a robust flavor without overly relying on any one ingredient. The eggplant rollatine was excellent as were the ravioli. My oldest kid had chicken Alfredo which was the best tasting Alfredo I have had in a few years.
Generous portion sizes of tasty Italian food - try the lasagna for sure! Our group of 5 stopped in here for dinner on a busy Friday night in May 2025. There was a short, 10-15 minute wait as it was a peak time. Our server gave us a brief rundown of the menu and was friendly and helpful throughout. They have salad and garlic knots for the table to share as part of an entree purchase. My lasagna was terrific and the rest of our group enjoyed their meals as well.
